I would really like to see sidewalk improvements in the small section of Hyattsville along route 1 north of Dematha extending north for a few blocks until the boundary with Riverdale Park at El Comalito (past Oliver). In this section, the sidewalk is extremely narrow and doesn't feel safe to walk on. There are a few places where there is an electric pole planted right in the middle of the narrow sidewalk, which doesn't seem right for promoting a safe, pedestrian-friendly space. I would love to see these kinds of improvements for increasing our safety when walking to Hyattsville's restaurants and retail spaces. Thank you!

Development at metro stations. Improvements to pedestrian safety at West Hyattsville Metro station.

Connections. See my comment elsewhere on site about the need to visually and physically connect the various currently unconnected parts of our City.

Hyattsville flies the Walkable flag, but it does not yet fly the Bikable flag. Hyattsville is located smack dab in the middle of a fantastic network of biking path in the DC region. Yet the City's access points to this network are largely invisible to someone walking right by them. Also, within the City itself, there is very little bike infrastructure. What we've got is a few bike racks on Rte 1 and a painted line running north/south on 43rd. We can do so much better!
P.S. What about road segments the City does not control?
True, the fact that the slow-moving, non-locale SHA (State Highway Administration) controls some of our City's major arteries -- Queens Chapel, E/W Hwy, Route 1 -- is a serious challenge.
But are we as powerless as we seem in these cases? I don't think so. We, AS A CITY, need a NEW PLAN for handling this challenge. We can do much better than our current plan - advising individual citizens to make calls to SHA on an ad-hoc basis.

walkability and bikeability are my #1 concern. #2 is continuing to stimulate small businesses and LOCAL chains, in order to attain a more vibrant business & retail community taking the place of derelict or ugly storefronts.

I would also like to see much less hardscape and more planting of green spaces with resilient native plants (Lots of plant cover rather than isolated, struggling specimens in a dead sea of mulch).

There are a number of things that I would like to see in the next ten years. I really like the ideas above for more walkability, including sidewalks on both sides of the streets throughout the city in most neighborhoods. It is dangerous out there while walking on the street. I second the idea of more bike friendly lanes and trails.
I think it would be good business to start looking at the West Hyattsville area. The storefronts are gross and the area is in need of a rehab, not to mention mixed use in that area, around the metro to attract new businesses and new residential. It will create a new tax base, increase density and grow the West Hyattsville area into a bustling town center.
I would also like to see more garbage cans throughout the neighborhood, primarily at bus stops along main walking areas. I find that there are not enough cans around which is making the city look junky.
Thank you for requesting feedback on the city. I think that this is a great forum.
