Trader Joe's, Panera, or an Apple Store.

Trader Joe's and Panera Bread are my TOP choices. Please, Please. Would love more choices for breakfast and coffee.

With vinyl records sales increasing 32% so far this year and reaching a 28 year high, an independent record store should be taken into consideration. The nearest record store is in College Park, aside from DC and Silver Spring. Having a record store in West Hyattsville will bring business to the neighborhood. As a record collector, I can attest that like minded individuals will travel to browse vinyl and are in need of new local record buying options.

I miss having a yarn store in Hyattsville.

I would love to have some sort of music venue (indoor or outdoor) and second the deli/coffee shop/community space.
Peter Daniels about 8 years ago
A music venue would be a welcome addition to this part of the neighborhood (or any part of the neighborhood).

A coffee shop/bakery. There was a bakery at the corner of Hamilton and Queens Chapel in the late 80s.

Brunch place, community center (youth center), gym.

Trader Joe's! Over saturation of grocery stores on NE side let's get some healthy reasonably priced choices on West side of hyattsville, RP, CP. ample parking; less traffic congestion!

Yes, Yes, Yes to a Trader Joe's, coffee shop/bakery, healthy casual dining on West side of Hyattsville.

Some sort of gathering spot (coffee shop, youth center, sandwich place/bakery, nice restaurant with brunch options)

There needs to be some kind of anchor store, besides Aldi. Other business might follow.

I'd like a bakery - a bread bakery which includes whole grain breads. Shortcake Bakery si great but doesn't have bread and there's no bread bakery in the area to my knowledge.

I would love a good quality second hand or antique shop.

A really good soft serve ice cream, bakery, coffee shop that does not break the budget to go into. The only game in town now for good soft serve ice cream is Jason's in College Park.

A funky breakfast place. Well, doesn't need to be funky, but a breakfast place. Like Miss Shirley's, Paper Moon Dinner or Blue Moon Café. All in Baltimore. Can the city talk to the owners of those businesses and invite them to consider HVL a place to open a restaurant? Also, a coffee shop and bakery, a yarn or other craft store that would complement 3 Little Birds on Gallatin St. A live music venue.

Music venue (think Hamilton (silver Spring) or 9:30 Club type venue and we can really use a nicer restaurant - something for a nicer night out. On the rare occasions we get those, while Franklins and Busboys are nice spots, they aren't really "really good restaurants." We can use one of those in Hyattsville.
Sharon ODonnell about 8 years ago
Hamilton is great! And that is exactly what we need. Good food, great neighborhood vibe, music options, outdoor seating.

Coffee shop/cafe with fresh, casual food throughout the day; a real bakery that makes bread; community center with a gym and programming for all ages.

A Trader Joe's would be great and more smaller, independent quality restaurants. Options are lacking for places to eat everywhere in Hyattsville. A music venue would also really add to the quality of any area in Hyattsville. We have no real bars or lounges or places that offer a more intimate, unique atmosphere conducive for gathering other than Franklins and Busboys - and I do not really consider those real bars - they are more family restaurants. I think Bird Kitchen and Cocktails in Mount Rainier is a perfect example of what we need more of in Hyattsville. More developed outdoor space would also be nice (ie better landscaping and exterior design that makes you want to walk around). Lastly, there is already a market that is held in West Hyattsville, but it would be great to invest a little in making a true market area where other events (outdoor small concerts, pop-up shows, holiday markets, plays etc) could be hosted.

I'd love a Peet's Coffee. Something like Union Kitchen Grocery or Glen's Garden Market would also add a nice market and small cafe mix.

I'd like to see places that can be gathering spots for a range of incomes and ages. A diner-type place would be great, so would a coffee shop that does sandwiches and baked goods. A community center with a gym would be great, too. Also, some public green space that could be used for events, a restaurant with outdoor seating, and improved landscaping and pedestrian safety. I don't want to see this area wiped clean of what is there. It's important to think about the wide range of people the West Hville business district serves -- development should take into account different voices and needs.

A decent breakfast place (that opened before 8am) would be great. I would be OK with a Trader Joe's but something independent or at least more local (MOMs?) would be better.

A Trader Joe's in the neighborhood would cut my grocery shopping mileage significantly--Mom's doesn't have everything, quite.

So many great ideas to help make W. Hyattsville an even better community. Small casual independent coffee, bakery, deli, record shops would really improve the culture of the community. I think of places like "The Diner" in Adams Morgan, "Republic" in Takoma Park, "The Italian Store" in Arlington, "Comet Ping Pong" on Connecticut Ave.
