These might be county- or state-level actions, but what the heck - here's some brainstorming: - Have reliable and secure bike parking in transit locations, especially at Metro stops - Yes to dedicated bike lanes (in DC, they're very cool) - Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) along our Route 1 (like they're doing along Route 1 in Arlington/Alexandria) and/or promote commuter carpooling networks - Encourage more EMPLOYERS to locate near our Metro stops - bring jobs to us (b/c predictions say there will be more growth in jobs in NOVA by 2040, which means more congestion and delay on roads throughout the DMV) - Follow up on tree replacements (after permits are issued to remove trees) - Pilot compost collection - More EV charging stations - Host a friendly rain garden "competition" (incentive) - Beautify run-down buildings - more art, more flowers... Thanks!

The easiest thing would be to invest in improving the tree canopy. On the west side of the city, we've lost a lot of street trees and very few are getting replaced. Continue pilot compost collection (we participate and have been very happy) and start enlarging it to include more residences. Continue and enlarge rain barrel program for next year (very pleased with that one too). Plant pollinator gardens in local parks.

extend recycling into the business operations located in the city such as laundry mats, strongly encourage and make readily available recycling including more choices of disposal of chemicals and electronics, extend options to assist businesses such as contractors, construction workers and other various materials that need assistance with proper disposal, cleaning waterway areas is a much needed area in Hyattsville, using solar power, creation of more local growing and keeping farmers markets available, collect and sanitize snow for water and rain for reuse, bring more information into the community to mainstream the importance of our environmental health
