Since Hyattsville is a diverse and international city, non-US citizens should be allowed to vote in local elections. By excluding them from political participation, we silence many people who make up this community. Our neighbors and employers, our friends and teachers may not have US citizenship, but denying them the right to vote undermines the cohesiveness of Hyattsville and our claims of inclusivity.
Hello,
Since Hyattsville is a diverse and international city, non-US citizens should be allowed to vote in local elections. By excluding them from political participation, we silence many people who make up this community. Our neighbors and employers, our friends and teachers may not have US citizenship, but denying them the right to vote undermines the cohesiveness of Hyattsville and our claims of inclusivity.
