The information from the City Council provided to date does not indicate any forethought as to public health issues and necessary requirements for sanitary and humane maintenance of backyard poultry if this Act were to eventually be adopted. This is a public health concern, and per Chp 4, Article III of the Hyattsville Charter, the City Council is responsible for the protection and promotion of the health of Hyattsville residents.

Who will regulate unsanitary and noisy conditions? Code Enforcement seems to be overwhelmed as it is without adding this to their agenda. What will happen when the foxes start eating the chickens? This will attract snakes and rats. What steps will be taken to prevent Avian Flu and passing it on to humans? Many people do not pick up after their dogs. Can it be expected that people will keep the chicken area clean?
